Public course material for ECE 6962-002, Applications of Fading Channels, Fall 2012:
People have asked how to refresh their memory of the prerequisite material. Students are expected to have the following material:
- Basic radio wave propagation and antenna theory. I have covered this material in ECE 5325, "Wireless Communications Systems". See lectures 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 from my ECE 5325 course material.
- Probability distributions, including deriving the distribution of a function of other random variables. This is material covered in depth in ECE 5510, "Random Processes", although it is covered briefly in ECE 3530. From my teaching material (from 2009), this is "Sections" 9, 10, and 17 from my compiled Random Processes lecture notes from 2009.
- The Fourier transform, which is covered first in ECE 3500.
