Our textbook will be Michael Rice, ``Digital Communications: A Discrete-time Approach'', 2008, ISBN-10: 0130304972; ISBN-13: 9780130304971; Publisher: Prentice Hall, 778 pages. It's pricey, so plan ahead and order a copy online (it is $25 cheaper at Amazon.com).

Projects

The course includes a semester design project, the design and use of discrete-time receivers. The project is separated into smaller parts, so that you can test each part and ensure its proper operation, one level of complexity at a time. Each one will be built in Matlab, and will include decoding a received signal and determining the transmitted message.
